 These little beauties are a blast to make with the kids. Be sure to start them several weeks Before Halloween!

Carefully peel your apples and then dip them in a mix of 1 T. Lemon Juice to 1/2 c. water. Roll the apple around in the mixture for just a few minutes.

Next, Carefully carve out various features in your apple. (Nose, mouth, etc) you can use a toothpick to lightly "carve" out any features.

 Keep in mind that any areas you carve will shrink and wrinkle. Once you have "carved" the facial features in your apple, set it aside and allow it to dry.

After several days the eye sockets you carved will be ready to insert whole cloves into for eyes. These look wonderfully haunting and icky.

It will take at least a week to dry. (more than likely 2 weeks).

If your home is humid, you can speed things up by placing the apple in the center of a warm 200F oven until dry.

 If you would like to add Hair to your shrunken head, you can thread a piece of floral wire down the center, loop some hair material in one end and then pull it partway through.

Once fully dried, you can shellac the head or spray it will a poly spray to keep it for years to come.

Note: For an easy Demonic Costume, dress all in black with a black cape, paint the face red and place a necklace of shrunken heads around the "Demon's" neck.
